I have been looking at way too many food blogs lately.
Food blogs always make me feel very discontented about my own blog. They always have a bazillion followers, and write new entries with new recipes every single day, and have amazing pictures, and are super well-written. And the ladies who write them have, like, ten kids and stainless steel cooking bowls and countless pastel-colored walls against which any cupcake in a pastel wrapper with pastel frosting looks waaay better than it does on a plain ol’ plate.

See?
And, obviously, they have amazing time management skills, because they find new recipes, adjust them, try them, take tons of pictures, and keep things up-to-date on Twitter and Facebook and Pinterest and this site and that site, etc. etc.
Little people like me think, “I could do that! I could cook! I could take photos! I could become a totally awesome, ultra-cool food blogger!!”
So today, I decided to take all the time I could muster and create my very own food blog.
I found a recipe.
I gathered the ingredients.
I took my camera.
The recipe was for yeast-free cinnamon rolls. I chose yeast-free cinnamon rolls because I often get cravings for cinnamon rolls, they don’t have them here, and because yeast seriously scares me. (I blame this on the fact that my mom has always said that yeast is a pain in the butt.)
Hence the yeast-free cinnamon rolls.
First, take some buttermilk:
Then some butter:
Some sugar:
And flour.
Then mix to form a dough:
Knead the dough and roll into a rectangle.
Spread with melted butter, cinnamon and sugar, and then roll.
And this is where I’m going to come clean.
Usually when I try recipes I find on the Internet, they don’t turn out.
Which is why I don’t think I’d be a very good food blogger.
My cinnamon rolls started to resemble cinnamon globs…
But it’s funny how a good photo makes them look better, though, doesn’t it?
And I started getting sick of washing my hands between every single step so I could take a picture.
Funny how food blogs never mention that the cooking takes twice as long when you’re taking all kinds of pictures.
Then it came time to taste test my cinnamon rolls…
And you know what?
They weren’t very good.
But I bet now that you’ve seen that picture, you’re kind of in the mood for cinnamon rolls…aren’t ya?
I also realized that food blogs don’t talk much about the annoying clean up…although I bet they could make that look good, too…
The dishes to be washed…
The glop on the counter…
The limescale on the sink.
I’m really glad I tried out my own food blog now. Because I feel waaaaay better about the fact that I don’t have one.
By the way…I’ll let you find your own yeast-free cinnamon roll recipe. Let me know if it turns out.
