Option 1 (preferred):
1. Find a Luxembourg native who knows a doctor.
2. Have them call the doctor.
3. Go to doctor the next day.
Option 2:
1. Find a Luxembourg native who knows a doctor.
2. Call the doctor yourself.
3. Ask for an appointment.
4. They will say, “we have an appointment next November.”
5. Say, “Do you have one earlier?”
6. They will say, “Let me see…how about next Thursday?”
7. Go to doctor.
*For those of you Americans who will read this and then proceed to criticize “European” health care, this is not meant as a criticism. Our health care in Luxembourg is cheap, modern, and usually excellent. But of course, it always helps to have some connections on the inside if you want an appointment with a specialist tout de suite.

Never had this problem - have always managed to get appointments when I have wanted them - maybe I have been lucky though as you are not the first person I have heard mention this.
ReplyDeleteIn my experience it's been the dermatologists, orthopedic doctors, and gynecologists that are pretty well booked...a friend recommended an OB/GYN when I first got pregnant, and he said he could take me in October - Baby Lovely was already CRAWLING by the time he could have seen me! But as far as GPs and pediatricians go, though, we've always gotten appointments right away. I'd be happy for a recommendation for a good dermatologist, by the way...
